For more than 40 years. Where recovery lives!

Hubbard Center

The Hubbard Center
573 Livingston Ave

the Hubbard Center is a highly structured, residential environment providing long-term intensive individual, group and family therapy to chemically dependent adolescents between the ages of 12 and 21.

With the success of the new building Hope House is in the process of undertaking an additional building which will increase the number of adolescence we can serve.   If you would like to be a part of the production of this care center, please go the Give Help section.

Centrally located in New York’s capital region, each child is treated “in-house” by a team of qualified professionals including:

Counselors
Social Worker
Family Therapist
Recovery Specialist
Recreation Therapist
Certified Teacher
Registered Nurse
Physician specializing in Addiction Treatment

Residents and their families are encouraged to work together and actively participate in the child’s recovery.

The Hubbard Center integrates the treatment of professionals such as those listed above with a structured living environment.  This provides a supportive, stable environment with a family atmosphere while encouraging the assumption of personal responsibility.

The program is designed so that as the resident youth experiences incremental victories, additional privileges as well as responsibilities are granted.

What makes a residential treatment program more effective than other treatment options?

Away from old “friends”: By temporarily removing a child from people who may be encouraging that child to use drugs, the self-destructive cycle of drug use is interrupted.

Surrounded by new friends: Through the support of a new group of people, some sharing the experience of breaking the destructive addiction cycle, the resident receives needed help and support in regaining personal responsibility over choices.

In Terms of Enforced boundaries, healthy structure: Who would argue against the idea that children need boundaries?  They need structure!  The residential program reestablishes these for the child dealing with chemical dependency.  At the same time, the child learns to look at his or her own behavior in terms its effect on themselves and others.

Parents play a key role: Of course, no program works without the involvement of the child’s parents.  Parents have an opportunity to learn alternative skills for enforcing the boundaries that the Hope House program has reintroduced to the child.  This educational component allows for the kind of important follow up support and boundaries that will be critical to the child’s continued success.
